POTTERYBARN Inspires with Fall Display

PotteryBarn at Short Pump Town Center in Richmond, VA inspires fanatastic fall dining with a unique store display. Above, birch tree limbs are secured in metal buckets with concrete fill. Burlap is casually draped around the base of the bucket to disguise the mechanics behind the stability of the trees.
Secured to the tree limbs are PotteryBarn brackets with hanging candle lanterns .
The overall design is a refined rustic look which inspires one to bring fall elements into the dining room this holiday season. Enjoy!

Outdoor Patio Great for Year Round Entertaining

This Smyrna, GA residence boasts an outdoor courtyard patio ideal for year round entertaining. The client and I worked together to incorporate her needs for a pizza oven, wood burning fireplace, grilling space for 3 Big Green Eggs and comfortable Wyndham Castings seating around a cocktail height table.

A punchy Mandarin Asian Toile livens up a breakfast nook and ties in with the comfortable seating arrangement in the adjoining family room of a Smyrna, GA residence.

FALUN RED

On a recent trip to Scandinavia, I was fortunate enough to experience the countryside landscape as well as the bustle of their vibrant cities. One recurring site throughout the countryside of Sweden and Norway are the rust colored barns and farmhouses that dot the lush grassy green fields and mountains. Falun Red refers to the red rust color which adorns so many of the country homes. The origin of the color began as a by-product from mines of copper ore. The inexpensive by-product became a widely applied color to country houses and barns in Scandinavia.

Valkommen

Pounding the cobbled stone streets of Stockholm
has been a rewarding treat to the eyes and creative soul.
This afternoon we popped into Svensk Tenn, a classic
interior design shop that represents Stockholm design well.
Located on the waterfront avenue of Strandvagen,
Svensk Tenn offers a vibrant mixture of textiles and furniture
designed by Joseph Frank, along with a varied selection of giftware.
Colorful, classic textile designs adorn upholstered furniture, trays, notebooks, wallpaper, lampshades and even tissue boxes.
Just as captivating as the views within Svenskt Tenn
are the views gazing out into the waters leading
to Stockholm's Archepelago.
We returned to the avenue Strandvagen this evening
and dined on local seafood, tiramisu, fresh strawberries and
chilled champagne at a floating waterfront hotspot, Strandbrygga.
Wrapping up the evening, we walked along the avenue
through the center of Ostermalm (a wealthy area of Stockholm),
window shopping along the way,
as only one can do so well in Stockholm!
